Her journey on the show includes unforgettable moments. From doing a keg stand to renewing her wedding vows, which led to a later divorce, and suffering a leg injury, her time was eventful. She even once exclaimed her fidelity while skiing. During her first 13 years on television, she was unreserved.

Original Cast Member: ‘The O.G. of the O.C.’

Vicki earned her nickname as ‘the O.G. of the O.C.’ due to her status as the longest-serving full-time cast member from the first season. She is known for her emotional, hardworking demeanor. She manages an insurance empire from her home in a gated community in California. Gunvalson was one of the original five women initially hired when nobody knew what the show could become.

“When we first started, Scott Dunlop said, ‘This is going to be a social experiment,’” Gunvalson recalled about the show’s original producer, who recruited her. “‘We have no idea what’s going to happen. It’s a documentary of your life.’”

The Impact of the Show

For 20 seasons, ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ has highlighted the dynamics of suburban California women. The show turned into a major success, leading to 10 American spinoffs and a variety of associated businesses. It broadened the concept of who could become a reality star. Although Vicki left in 2019, she reappeared part-time in 2023, and she is now back fully involved.

Vicki’s Return to the Show

Last November at BravoCon, the network’s reality festival, executive producer Andy Cohen surprised Gunvalson by inviting her to join the 20th anniversary season. The new season begins on July 9.

“I don’t know that in Season 1 we would’ve put all our money on Vicki being the housewife whose story we’re still telling,” Cohen mentioned in a video interview. Amazingly, despite numerous changes in her life, she has remained consistent.
