Disappointment and Reactions
After the Dallas Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott, suffered a rough loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on ‘Thursday Night Football,’ there was an evident air of disappointment among fans and those associated with the team. Following the game, a stadium employee openly expressed his dissatisfaction to Prescott, calling the team’s performance ’embarrassing’ as Prescott headed toward the locker room. This interaction was captured on video and quickly gained viral attention.
Prescott addressed the incident in his postgame media session, sharing his perspective on the employee’s comments. ‘You know, when he said it, I just looked at him, and at that point, he looked away, and when I turned my head back, he said something else,’ Prescott explained. He emphasized the importance of standing by one’s words, stating, ‘If you’re saying it’s embarrassing, say it’s embarrassing. If you’re saying it to me, say it to me. You know what I mean? Don’t go back on it.’ He acknowledged the situation’s attention but expressed regret that it was a topic of conversation.
The Embarrassment of the Game
Many critics regarded the game as a humiliating experience for the Cowboys. Playing against the Buccaneers, who started their undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in only his second NFL game, the Cowboys struggled to maintain their footing. Daniels excelled, recording 189 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 76% of his passes, and achieving a passer rating of 110, showcasing his potential in Dallas.
Challenges Faced by Prescott and the Cowboys
Prescott faced constant pressure from the Buccaneers’ defense, resulting in rushed throws and several incompletions. He completed 24 out of 42 passes for 316 yards and one touchdown to receiver George Pickens. However, he also threw two interceptions, contributing to the team’s 24-16 defeat, which dropped their record to 2-3.
The Cowboys’ running game was equally ineffective. They managed only 50 rushing yards, with Javonte Williams and other running backs unable to gain momentum. Additionally, CeeDee Lamb sat out during the latter part of the game due to a quad injury, as reported on the Amazon Prime broadcast.
Despite the setbacks, the Cowboys are not out of the NFC East race. However, they are struggling, and adjustments are necessary. Their next challenge is against the Green Bay Packers on NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ on October 18, offering an opportunity to balance their record.
