Case of Yasmin Suarez Reyes

John Gannon, a 75-year-old businessman, expressed regret over his vote for Trump, pointing to the detention of his fiancee, Yasmin Suarez Reyes, as a significant factor. According to Gannon, federal agents are “destroying families and jobs” by targeting law-abiding individuals like Suarez Reyes.

Suarez Reyes had entered the U.S. legally on October 24, 2023, through the Visa Waiver Program due to her Spanish citizenship. Her stay was valid until January 19, 2024. Although she filed for asylum in January and received a work permit, ICE agents arrested her in July, claiming her application did not confer legal status.
