Freshman left fielder Rylee Dunlavy showcased her skills with a 2-for-3 performance, including an RBI triple, scoring twice in Antioch’s victory over Dunlap. This match was part of the Class 3A state semifinal held at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria on Friday.
Dunlavy’s triple was a highlight of a vigorous four-run first inning for the Sequoits, who hold a record of 33-3. Antioch will compete against either Chatham Glenwood, with a record of 29-2, or Fenwick, who stand at 22-11, in the state championship. This pivotal game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Notably, this marks Antioch’s third time in the state final within four years.
Freshman first baseman Kylie Pfleeger contributed with a critical triple against Dunlap (30-9), driving in two runs. Freshman ace Pearl Wenzel also delivered an impressive performance, allowing only one run on six hits and two walks. Her seven innings of play included two strikeouts, which enhanced her record to an impeccable 16-0.
Senior designated player Kailyn Bockwoldt added to the team’s success with two hits and an RBI, while senior catcher Addie Webb hit a two-run single that solidified Antioch’s dominance.
