A teenage boy was reported missing at Chain O’ Lakes on Monday evening, leading to a search and subsequent recovery of a body by authorities. The 15-year-old was last seen swimming near Fox Lake at approximately 6 p.m. His friends attempted to locate him but were unable to do so and contacted local authorities for help.
Responding to the call were multiple agencies, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, and the Illinois Conservation Police. According to a spokesman from the Lake County sheriff’s office, the teenager was not wearing a flotation device at the time of the incident, which occurred when he either jumped or accidentally fell off a boat into the water.
Search efforts began quickly, and within approximately two hours of the initial report, divers and an underwater drone managed to find a body. The body, discovered in Pistakee Lake, is believed to be that of the missing teenager, according to authorities.
