He successfully saved a young boy from Seabright State Beach’s powerful currents in Santa Cruz, California. The child, ten years old, had been pulled approximately 15 yards from the shore when Ryder arrived on the scene, assisted by several beachgoers. The entire rescue was completed in just over two minutes.

Following the rescue, President Donald Trump has invited Williams to the White House. “We’re going to bring this heroic young man, and his family, into the White House with, perhaps, the boy he saved, to give him a High Civilian Honor,” Trump stated on social media. “Very brave, he deserves it!”

Who is Ryder Williams?

Ryder Williams was identified by his family in a statement to the California Post. His father, Shane Williams, expressed their pride in their son, calling him an “amazing kid.”

“He just wants to be a kid, work hard this summer, and serve and protect his community,” Shane Williams commented. “He’s doing great. We’re so overwhelmed,” he added, further mentioning his efforts to shield Ryder from overwhelming attention, while still viewing him “as a little boy.”
