2 weeks ago 0

A 17-year-old was severely injured following the New York Knicks’ unexpected comeback in Game 4 earlier this week. The incident occurred near Madison Square Garden when a group approached the teenager and engaged in an argument. According to the New York Police Department, an individual from the group punched and kicked the teen, causing him to have a seizure and fall into a coma.

Authorities reported that the situation escalated when an individual, believed to be the aggressor, shouted, “Spurs are up right now. We’re winning. Spurs in 7.” This was met with a reply from someone in the teen’s group, leading to a brawl that resulted in the teen’s injuries. Following the altercation, the teenager came out of the coma and was listed in critical but stable condition. His mother shared that he is responding well and is expected to be moved out of the ICU soon.

Celebrations after the Knicks’ Game 4 win have seen chaotic scenes across New York City. Security concerns led to the cancellation of a planned watch party by Madison Square Garden, criticized by Knicks owner Jim Dolan for the city’s security requirements. Similar gatherings have faced issues before. During the Knicks’ playoff run, watch parties outside Madison Square Garden had to be canceled and resumed, fluctuating with the team’s progress. Safety concerns arose during Game 3 when President Donald Trump attended, and plans for a large gathering for Game 4 were subsequently canceled by Dolan.

Despite chaotic incidents, Knicks fans are eagerly awaiting their chance to celebrate what could be their first title since 1973. Game 5 is set to take place in San Antonio, with fans expected to gather for watch parties outside Madison Square Garden and at other city locations like Radio City Music Hall and Central Park.
