The 26-man squad will join a celebratory open-top bus parade through central Madrid. The route begins near Moncloa Palace, the prime minister’s official residence, and concludes at Cibeles Square, a traditional gathering spot for national celebrations.

The team secured the trophy after a 1-0 victory over former champion Argentina in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This marks Spain’s second win, following their 2010 triumph in South Africa. Fans erupted in jubilation across the Spanish capital, as thousands descended into streets from bars and eateries, adorned in national colors and flags.

Celebrations took over Puerta de Sol and other key squares. Enthusiastic crowds sang, danced, and set off flares while cars honked in rhythm with the festivities. Supporters continued to revel into Monday’s early hours. Nineteen-year-old Victor Álvarez expressed his joy, saying, “I’m very happy. I’ve slept three or four hours, but for the team, I’ll do whatever it takes.”

The World Cup victory, alongside Spain’s Women’s World Cup win in 2023, crowns Spain as the first European nation to hold both the men’s and women’s titles concurrently.

Tragedy struck as celebrations were dampened by news from Salamanca, northwest of Madrid, where a 13-year-old boy died after falling from a collapsed fountain during the revelry.

For many young fans, this marks the first time witnessing the men’s team lift the trophy, igniting national excitement. In anticipation, supporters gathered at Madrid’s Barajas airport to welcome the champions, while others secured spots near Cibeles Square, carrying umbrellas to shield against soaring temperatures, expected to reach 35°C (95°F).
