The Seattle Seahawks have significantly strengthened their offensive line by acquiring Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. This move involved sending two draft picks to Indianapolis for the All-Pro guard.
Kyle Brandt, an NFL analyst, discussed the implications of this trade on Wednesday’s ‘Get Up.’ He noted that this trade is potentially game-changing for the NFC West, alongside another notable shift: the San Francisco 49ers have brought back star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Colts.
For the Los Angeles Rams, it was “not a good day,” as they watched both NFC West competitors enhance their rosters. Despite their efforts to establish a superteam, including trades for superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett and cornerback Trent McDuffie, the Rams have started the season poorly with a 3-4 record.
Brandt believes the Nelson trade will provide the Seahawks with more advantages than any of the Rams’ offseason moves. Garrett, who set a single-season record with 23 sacks last year, played only one game with the Rams before undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Meanwhile, Aaron Donald has returned after two years away from the NFL but has yet to record a sack in his 2026 comeback.
Although Brandt did not mention McDuffie, who has performed well as a shutdown corner, he emphasized that Nelson’s presence could invigorate a Seahawks offense that may soon see running backs Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet return to form.
Brandt stated, “Myles Garrett’s been out. Aaron Donald’s been OK. I think the Nelson thing is massive. It’s an NFC-altering trade for an interior lineman that good. The running backs are getting healthier. This is a huge deal.” Nelson will have opportunities to impact the division rivalry when the Seahawks face the Rams in Weeks 16 and 18.
