Search for Missing North Carolina Woman Continues in Grenada

The search for Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, a 44-year-old resident of Cary, North Carolina, persists as Grenadian police express hope of finding her alive. Waddell was last seen swimming at Grand Anse Beach on Wednesday, according to the Royal Grenada Police Force.

Acting Commissioner of Police Randy Connaught emphasized, “At this time, the matter continues to be treated as a missing person investigation.” Surveillance footage shows Waddell walking on a jetty near the water at 11:36 a.m. before entering the water at 11:51 a.m. She was seen swimming under the jetty at 12:04 p.m.

Witnesses affirm they saw Waddell later in the open water. Her travel companion, seen on the beach at 12:46 p.m., reported her missing to authorities at 5:50 p.m. Connaught noted the companion’s account is consistent and she continues to cooperate with investigators.

Despite Waddell’s six-day absence, police remain dedicated to rescuing her. “It is our hope that Elizabeth will be found and found alive and well,” Connaught stated, showing faith in the possibility of her safety. Local police request vigilance from fishermen, boat operators, and residents along the southern coastline to look out for a medium-built woman with short blonde hair.

Connaught urged, “Any bit of information will do at this time, and we do hope that we can locate Elizabeth very soon.” He expressed empathy for Waddell’s family and friends, reaffirming the hope that she is found alive and safe.
