Rod Stewart’s Health Scare on Stage
Rod Stewart, the 81-year-old musician, nearly encountered a medical emergency during a concert at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City. During his performance, Stewart slowed down significantly, raising concerns among his audience.
A video shared by TMZ revealed Stewart leaning heavily on stage equipment while trying to continue his performance. At one point, he signaled to team members backstage, who quickly came to his aid. A woman brought an oxygen tank, and another staff member applied a cold compress to his neck.
“The show must go on,” Stewart announced to the audience, admitting that he “nearly fainted.”
Stewart’s representative did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Recent Concert Cancellations
Last month, Stewart canceled two Las Vegas shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, scheduled for May 29 and 30. Speaking to the Las Vegas Review, his representative attributed the cancellations to his doctor’s advice due to health concerns, mentioning planned shows to resume on June 2.
Stewart apologized to his fans through a statement, expressing his regret and explaining that he was on vocal rest due to a sinus infection. He expressed enthusiasm for performing at future shows, either at Caesars Palace or on tour over the summer.
Social Media Backlash
In early June, Stewart canceled more shows in California. He took to Instagram Stories to explain his circumstances from Chula Vista, expressing his disappointment about the cancellations and committing to reschedule the concerts.
Despite his stated health issues, videos showed Stewart traveling to Boston with his sons to watch a soccer match. This sparked criticism from some fans, questioning his decision to fly across the country for the event after canceling several concerts. Comments on his Instagram post reflected fans’ mixed reactions to this contrast between his actions and previous cancellations.
Future Plans and Commitment to Music
Rod Stewart has addressed the situation by emphasizing his commitment to music. Despite recent setbacks, he clarified that he will not retire from performing. In 2024, he announced that he would stop large-scale world tours, though he continues to love making music and performing on stage.
Stewart humorously noted his fitness and readiness to continue performing, displaying a positive outlook on future possibilities.
