Twenty-two years ago, I made a pivotal decision in my career. My initial professional journey began at The Wall Street Journal and CNBC. However, joining Fox News transformed my life in unexpectedly positive ways, leaving me appreciative of the instinct that directed me here.
On my first day, Jeff Hark, responsible for coordinating reporter and anchor schedules, discussed my family with me. He recognized that I had three young children and wanted to reassure me that Fox comprehended the challenges faced by young professionals with families. Although I initially felt defensive, vowing not to burden him with time-off requests, his genuine understanding revealed a supportive company culture. This smart perspective motivated me to work diligently, knowing I had their support.
Fox empowered me to expand and embrace various challenges. The environment remained dynamic, with growth occurring rapidly. The first year, I expressed my interest in joining the election team for the November 2004 presidential race. Jokingly, I suggested reporting from a street corner in Boston about the DNC’s impact on traffic, but in earnest, I wanted to be present where significant events occurred.
Quickly after, I found myself on the Democratic convention floor with seasoned correspondents Carl Cameron and Major Garrett. Feeling both joyous and apprehensive, I persevered, marking the beginning of two decades covering elections for Fox News.
My experiences at Fox have taken me across the globe, allowing me to report on presidents and royalty. Cherished moments include walking Normandy’s beaches with war veterans, sharing stories from Berlin, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Fox fosters a profound respect for veterans unmatched elsewhere.
I am continually grateful for our Fox family, including Lachlan, Suzanne, Jay, and others who feel like home. United by a passion for our nation, our mission is to uphold its highest standards and hold its leaders accountable for ensuring its ongoing success.
