Recall Alert: Children’s Squeeze Toys Present Serious Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning regarding popular children’s squeeze toys due to severe injury risks associated with the beads inside them. This alert involves a recall for two specific toy brands and an advisory for another.

Recalled Toys

Recalls have been announced for Squeezy Dumplings from GIHNJSI and Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns from OKK Trading. These toys feature water beads that pose risks if ingested, such as choking and intestinal obstructions, potentially causing serious health issues like severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and even death.

Squeezy Dumplings Details

The Squeezy Dumplings, distinguished by their round shape, cartoon faces, and glitter-like particles, were sold on Amazon during May and June this year. Sold in packaging resembling a bamboo steamer with “SQUEEZY DUMPLINGS” and “SQUEEZE ME” labels, approximately 8,000 units have been recalled.

Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns Details

Similarly, about 7,200 Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns, available in various third-party stores across the U.S. from May to August, have been recalled. Their packaging also resembles a bamboo steamer, featuring “Rainbow MYSTERY” and “SUGAR EDITION” labels.

Immediate Actions and Refund

The CPSC advises owners of these toys to write “RECALLED” on both the toy and its container with a permanent marker, dispose of them, and send a photo of the discarded item to the relevant email: [email protected] for Squeezy Dumplings or [email protected] for Squishy Buns. A full refund is available. No injuries have been reported with these toys thus far.

Advisory on Ivyapingdianpu’s Squishy Bun Toys

Additionally, the CPSC has directed consumers to cease use of Squishy Bun Toys from Ivyapingdianpu as these violate essential safety standards. Despite containing similar hazardous water beads, no recall has been agreed upon by the company nor has there been any consumer remedy offered, even after a Notice of Violation by CPSC.

The Ivyapingdianpu toys, sold in steamer-like containers with “SQUISHY BUN” and “Rainbow MYSTERY” labels, are believed to have been distributed through Amazon in June and possibly by other sellers. The CPSC estimates around 100 of these toys are affected and urges disposal if found in possession. Consumers are encouraged to report any injuries or defects observed.
