Psychiatrists to Testify in Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial

On Friday, psychiatrists who once treated Lindsay Clancy are set to testify in her murder trial. Clancy faces first-degree murder charges for the deaths of her three young children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on January 24, 2023. Her defense argues she was overmedicated and experienced severe postpartum psychosis when the tragedy occurred.

Friday’s testimony began with Kimberlee Hardy, a former director at Kingston’s Kingsbury Club. She briefly shared that Cora and Dawson spent time in the club’s playroom and noted that Clancy seemed content and punctual when picking them up.

Following Hardy on the witness stand was Sarah Carney, a longstanding family friend, serving as the 57th prosecution witness. Central to the trial is Clancy’s mental health. Last week, her former husband, Patrick Clancy, stated she began expressing suicidal thoughts and the potential for harm to their children after changing medications in December 2022. She received psychiatric care at McLean Hospital shortly before the incident.

Further testimonies revealed Clancy had communicated experiencing mental disturbance due to her medication. In court on Monday, her diary entries were read aloud, including one where she confessed to feeling overwhelmed daily.

Prosecutors displayed prescription bottles from Clancy’s home, indicating her prescriptions, yet she reportedly did not consume many pills from each bottle.
