President Trump Urges Minnesotans to Resist Somali Immigrants

24 minutes ago 0

President Donald Trump addressed Minnesotans on Thursday, urging them to “fight back” against Somali immigrants following federal charges against a Somali American man. The arrest was related to an alleged terror attack plot at the Mall of America.

In a message posted on Truth Social, the president claimed that Somali immigrants were “taking over” the state. He warned of “violence, murder, and mayhem,” urging Minnesotans to take action.

“You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government,” Trump stated, criticizing Democratic Governor Tim Walz. “Your Governor is an incompetent thief who doesn’t want to get involved. He just wants to get out of town with as much as he can steal, and then, lead a quiet life.”

The comments followed the announcement by the FBI and Department of Justice of the arrest of 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud. Mohamud, a U.S. citizen of Somali descent, was accused of planning to travel to Somalia to join a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and then attack Minnesota.

The president has previously criticized Walz for his handling of alleged fraud within the Somali community in Minnesota. In a significant operation in late 2025, immigration enforcement actions in Minneapolis and St. Paul resulted in fatal shootings involving federal agents.

Newsweek sought clarification from the White House on Trump’s statements and contacted Governor Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Democratic Senators Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar for comments.
