President Trump Proposes Idea of Presidential Reunion at the White House

President Donald Trump floated the idea of hosting a reunion of former presidents at the White House to watch a football game. During the ‘Storytime with the Second Lady’ podcast episode on Friday, Trump shared his thoughts while looking at an illustration of a president watching the Super Bowl at the White House with Second Lady Usha Vance.

Trump proposed the gathering could include Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and the Bush family. ‘Wouldn’t that be a nice story? The press would go wild,’ he remarked. Usha Vance agreed, saying, ‘A president reunion? That would be fun!’

The podcast, hosted by Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, features her interviewing guests as they read books to children on YouTube. The lineup has ranged from race car driver Danica Patrick to Artemis II astronauts, with Trump being a recent participant.

During his appearance, Trump narrated ‘Presidents Play!’, a book by the White House Historical Association, focusing on leisure activities of past American presidents. Instead of reading the text, Trump humorously commented on several past presidents. On William Howard Taft, for instance, Trump noted, ‘He was a large man, very large. And he loved baseball. He’d go to baseball games, loved the hot dogs at the baseball games.’ He jokingly added about maintaining Taft’s record as the heaviest president, ‘I have to be careful ’cause I don’t want to supersede his record.’

Trump also commented on former President Bill Clinton while looking at a page depicting Clinton jogging on a track installed for him at the White House. ‘That’s nice. I didn’t even know that until recently, but he had a track built at the White House,’ Trump observed. Although he admitted, ‘I don’t think I’ll ever do that. I don’t see myself doing that. I don’t know.’ He expressed his fondness for Clinton, saying, ‘I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do.’

While Trump’s predecessors, including George W. Bush, Clinton, and Biden, recently appeared together at Obama’s presidential center opening, he was not included in the event. Despite his ongoing criticisms of Obama and their reciprocal harsh comments, Trump suggested Obama could be an enjoyable guest at the White House for the proposed reunion.
