President Trump is set to travel to North Dakota, marking his first journey on the newly acquired Air Force One. This Boeing 747-8, a luxury plane, was gifted to the United States by the Qatari government last year. The unveiling of this $400 million aircraft occurred earlier this month, replacing the military-grade 747-2 that served for over three decades. The Qatari-gifted plane is anticipated to remain in use until the delivery of a new Boeing fleet to the Air Force, scheduled for 2028.

During his North Dakota visit, President Trump will take part in a train ride and welcome ceremony to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. He will also visit the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library. Prior to departure from Joint Base Andrews, the president expressed his excitement, describing this aircraft as potentially the greatest commercial plane ever constructed.

President Trump shared his enthusiasm with the press before boarding Air Force One for the inaugural flight. He remarked, “I’m excited about the first flight. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it.” He emphasized the extensive modifications made for presidential use, highlighting security features and advanced technologies.

Trump stated that the cost to taxpayers for enhancing the plane was relatively low, comparing these expenses to what it might have cost if approached differently. He described it as “a gift from a country that’s treated us very well.” The president compared the new aircraft to its predecessor, noting that the older plane’s appearance was not fitting for the country’s status.

“We’re really proud of this,” he said. “The country’s very proud of it.”
