President Trump Announces New Pedestrian Bridge Project for Washington, D.C.

3 weeks ago 0

President Donald Trump has unveiled his latest construction initiative in Washington, D.C.: a pedestrian bridge designed to link the National Mall with the Potomac River. This announcement came during a briefing in the Oval Office alongside Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

The proposed bridge, referred to as the “Trump promenade,” aims to provide a scenic walkway that will skirt the Lincoln Memorial. The structure intends to facilitate pedestrian movement by spanning a couple of busy roadways, enhancing connectivity between the iconic National Mall and the adjacent waterfront.

This endeavor aligns with an early-20th-century vision of improving access between the Mall and the Potomac River. It marks another entry in President Trump’s list of infrastructure projects focused on Washington’s central landmarks. Notably, it follows his recent endeavor to refurbish the Reflecting Pool, adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial, demonstrating a commitment to revitalizing the city’s historic core.
