Police Activity Closes Northbound Lanes on 101 Freeway in Los Angeles

On Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) shut down all northbound lanes of the 101 freeway near downtown Los Angeles in Boyle Heights due to police activity. This closure caused significant traffic disruptions north of 4th Street shortly before 9 a.m.

CHP logs indicated that drivers were redirected off 4th Street as the investigation proceeded. KTLA reported that one individual was hospitalized following a shooting involving an officer on the freeway. CHP officials have not yet released details regarding the incident or the SigAlert, and a departmental spokesperson has not responded to questions about the event.

Footage from KTLA depicted crime scene tape on the freeway with multiple patrol vehicles present. The traffic situation resulted in extensive backups, stretching for miles. The police arrived on the scene around 7:30 a.m., and the SigAlert was issued at 8:55 a.m., according to official logs.
