Michele Bannister, aged 47, faces a felony charge according to News 4 JAX. She claimed self-defense during an argument, yet witnesses and the victim indicated no immediate threat to her son, who was involved in the match.

The altercation began on May 31 over a disagreement about retrieving a ball. Following the match, Bannister’s son exchanged words with the opponent. This escalated into Bannister intervening and striking the man multiple times in the head with her paddle, resulting in significant facial cuts.

Bannister, an orthopedic nurse, faces aggravated battery charges with a deadly weapon. The police report also reveals she provided false identification to law enforcement twice, complicating her legal situation.
