Pete Hegseth, originally from Minnesota, took on the role of U.S. Defense Secretary under President Donald Trump. His swearing-in ceremony occurred on January 25, 2025, with Vice President JD Vance officiating.
Hegseth completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University in 2003. A decade later, he earned a master’s degree from Harvard University. His military career includes significant time in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he participated in multiple active-duty missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Throughout his service, Hegseth received numerous military honors. These include two Bronze Star Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB), and the Joint Commendation Medal.
Beyond his military and governmental roles, Hegseth has experience as a former host on Fox News. He has written several books, among which is “The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free,” published in 2024.
