2 weeks ago 0

Police in Toledo, Ohio are actively searching for a 20-year-old man linked to a recent shooting at a neighborhood festival. The incident resulted in 12 injuries. Authorities are also requesting assistance in identifying a second shooter involved in the altercation.

Details of the Incident

The main suspect, Ka Nye Taylor, faces 11 counts of felonious assault. This follows claims of him being involved in the shooting four days prior. The Toledo Police Department released a photo of another suspect who was dressed in black during the festival.

The shooting transpired after an individual was tackled and attacked at the event. This led to someone opening fire; another person responded with additional gunfire. According to Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle, three of the injured individuals were directly involved, while others were bystanders. The injured ranged from teenagers to someone in their 60s. By Tuesday, all but three had been discharged from the hospital.

Immediate Response and Aftermath

Authorities commended quick action taken by officers and civilians. Chief of Fire and Rescue Allison Armstrong highlighted how strangers helped victims by applying tourniquets, dressing wounds, and offering comfort until further assistance arrived. About half of those wounded received immediate care from police or bystanders, which included the application of tourniquets.

The Old West End Festival attracts crowds annually, offering live music, vendors, and home tours. The festival covers multiple city blocks in Toledo’s historic area. This city lies in northwest Ohio near Lake Erie’s western edge and is approximately 55 miles southwest of Detroit.

Impact on Festival

Following the incident, festival organizers canceled the remainder of the event planned for Sunday. They cited that continuing was neither compassionate, responsible, nor feasible.
