NFL Quarterback Injuries Rise as Giants’ Jaxson Dart Faces Season-Ending Injury

13 minutes ago 0

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is out for the season after suffering a severe knee injury, adding to the NFL’s growing concern over quarterback injuries. The incident highlights a league-wide trend affecting multiple teams this season.

During a discussion on OutKick, host Dan Dakich and medical expert Dr. Ann Bass took a closer look at the physical demands on modern NFL quarterbacks. They noted a significant number of injuries already impacting six different teams.

In a recent game against the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield attempted a comeback but suffered an injury. As his pass was intercepted by Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, Mayfield was left writhing in pain on the field. The severity of the injury quickly became apparent.

He clearly injured the thumb on his throwing hand, a critical concern for any quarterback.

The Bucs’ coach, Todd Bowles, later disclosed that Mayfield dislocated his thumb. An MRI was scheduled to assess potential ligament damage, which could affect his playing capabilities in the future.

Mayfield’s exit left the Buccaneers, already struggling with an 0-3 record, in a precarious position. Jalon Daniels, an undrafted rookie, stepped in during the final minutes but was unable to secure a victory, throwing an interception at the game’s end.

The ongoing rash of quarterback injuries underscores a need for increased focus on player health and safety. The NFL and its teams will need to address these issues to protect their players effectively.
