2 weeks ago 0

The New York Knicks have achieved a remarkable turnaround after trailing by as many as 29 points. Their latest comeback led them to a 107-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, securing a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.

The decisive play came at the fingertips of OG Anunoby, whose tip-in of a missed Jalen Brunson three-pointer sent Madison Square Garden into a frenzy. The Knicks had to fight hard to reach this point.

Early Challenges

The game started unfavorably for the Knicks. Karl-Anthony Towns picked up two fouls within the first 62 seconds, much to the dismay of the Knicks fans. The game shifted dramatically afterward, with the Spurs capitalizing on their opportunities.

The Spurs, with the help of favorable calls and efficient shooting, initiated a 41-20 run while Towns was off the floor. They managed to hit 54% of their three-point shots in the first half, establishing a 76-49 lead by halftime, which further grew to a 29-point advantage.

Resilient Rally

The Knicks have demonstrated resilience in previous games, and this was no exception. They narrowed the gap to 15 points by the end of the third quarter, igniting a lively response from the crowd.

Despite a slow start in the fourth quarter, which boosted the Spurs’ lead to 20, the Knicks responded with a 13-2 run. With seven minutes left, they reduced the deficit to nine points, then to seven with 5:15 remaining.

Final Minutes Drama

The Knicks’ comeback intensified, bringing them within four points at 4:32, and then a single point with two minutes left. They eventually snatched the lead with 90 seconds to go.

Though the Spurs regained the lead with two free throws with 30.3 seconds remaining, the Knicks did not falter. New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson’s three-pointer sent the crowd into raptures, confirming a historic win.

Coach’s Praise

San Antonio struggled to execute from the inbound, leading to Madison Square Garden’s loudest moments, marking the completion of the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.

After the game, coach Mike Brown praised Anunoby’s tip-in as the greatest play in the history of Knicks basketball. The Knicks outscored the Spurs 58-30 in this match.
