New Orleans Saints’ Jordyn Tyson Faces Setback with Hamstring Injury

1 hour ago 0

Jordyn Tyson’s journey into the NFL hasn’t started smoothly. The New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver, a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, may be out for up to two months due to a hamstring injury, according to NFL Network.

Tyson, a 22-year-old from Arizona State, was the eighth overall pick in April. He sustained the injury during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars last Thursday.

New Orleans Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore provided an update on Tyson’s condition, indicating that the injury might keep the rookie sidelined at least through the early part of the season. If the current timeline is accurate, Tyson could miss a minimum of five games.

The receiver sought multiple evaluations for his hamstring issue, sparking discussions among fans who feared a longer absence than just a few missed practices.

A two-month recovery could see Tyson returning near Week 6. The Saints are set to visit the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, then traveling to Paris for an NFL International Game.

Tyson experienced similar problems during his college career with the Sun Devils, but Moore dismissed comparisons to past injuries. “From what I understand, this is unrelated to Jordyn’s history,” Moore stated via ESPN. “Any player put in that situation, where you slip and are shoved, would likely face the same diagnosis.”

Before the injury, Tyson participated in every day of training camp and was adjusting well to his new team. Moore praised Tyson’s performance, noting, “He’s played solid football. Unfortunately, preseason and training camp often bring challenges, but we’ll work through this.”

Moore aims to maintain the positive momentum the Saints achieved in the prior season’s second half, especially with Tyler Shough becoming the starting quarterback. With a complete offseason to prepare, Shough is poised to lead the offense, bolstered by new talents, including Tyson.

Tyson made a mark on NFL scouts with a standout 1,101-yard season in 2024. Although his 2025 season was marred by hamstring issues, limiting him to nine games, he still caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Saints secured star receiver Chris Olave with a contract extension and added Travis Etienne Jr. this offseason with a four-year, $48 million deal. Alvin Kamara also returns, contributing to a potent backfield duo.

As the regular season nears, the focus for Tyson shifts to healing, with hopes of the first-round pick rejoining the field soon.
