Musician Nita Strauss, known for being the guitarist for Alice Cooper, has celebrated the arrival of her first child. Strauss and her husband, musician-manager Josh Villalta, welcomed their son Maxwell James Villalta on May 28. They shared this joyful news recently.
In an interview with People, the couple expressed their delight. Photos of their newborn appeared on social media, and Nita shared her thoughts: “We’re in the full-on newborn phase: exhausted and learning as we go. Still, it’s the most fulfilling time of our lives,” Nita shared in the interview.
Josh explained the choice of the name Maxwell: “We hope he maximizes whatever he does in life.” The baby’s middle name, James, honors Nita’s father, musician James Strauss.
Nita described childbirth as “the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” yet an amazing experience. “People say ‘You don’t know true love until your baby is on your chest.’ I felt this intensely when it happened to me,” she told the outlet. “It seemed like the world disappeared as we welcomed new life.”
Nita is enthusiastic about the journey ahead. “I’m thrilled for every part of this chapter. From caring for a newborn now to bringing our son on tour in the future, it’s going to be amazing,” she added. “It will be chaotic and we love it that way.”
While Nita takes maternity leave from performing with Alice Cooper, 22-year-old guitarist Anna Cara steps in for the tour. Having interviewed Strauss several times, I can say she’s a delightful personality and will certainly make a great mom.
