A mother in North Carolina encountered a terrifying road rage incident while driving on an interstate. She reported that another driver aggressively cut her off, brake-checked her, and threatened her life while her 3-year-old son cried in the back seat.
Myeka Dunn recounted to FOX8 WGHP that she was on her way to drop her son at her mother’s house around 4:30 p.m. last Friday. As she drove, a dark blue sedan swerved into her lane. In response to this unexpected move, Dunn honked her horn, which escalated the situation. The aggressive driver continued to cut her off and brake-check her while making violent threats.
They almost hit me, so that’s when I honked my horn at them,Dunn said.
Feeling unsafe, Dunn started recording the incident on her phone. In the video, the driver can be seen leaning out of his vehicle, repeatedly shouting, “You are going to die!” The distress of Dunn’s toddler is evident as his cries are heard in the background.
Dunn explained, You know my windows were cracked. He was able to see that my child was in the car. He totally disregarded that. He didn’t care.
She contacted both 911 and the Guilford Metro non-emergency line to report the incident. Despite providing video evidence, she expressed frustration over the response.
According to Deputy Director of Operations Christine Moore, protocols were not followed correctly. While a ‘be on the lookout’ alert was issued, not all pertinent information, including video evidence, was relayed.
The Greensboro Police Department did issue an alert to find the dark blue sedan, identifying the vehicle involved. Despite this, no arrest has occurred.
The victim has been instructed on how to pursue a misdemeanor warrant through the Magistrate’s Office since the incident happened outside the officers’ presence. Dunn is now pursuing legal action against the driver.
