Malachi Toney Receives Praise from Miami Legend

Wide receiver Malachi Toney has made an impressive start to the season, earning high praise from a Miami Hurricanes legend. During Friday’s 45-6 victory over the Stanford Cardinal, Toney excelled with 12 receptions, accumulating 234 yards and three touchdowns. He was the main target for quarterback Darian Mensah, who threw for a total of 401 yards.

Michael Irvin, a former Miami Hurricanes receiver, expressed his admiration for Toney on his podcast, “The Locker Room Podcast.” Irvin noted, “Everything he does is perfect. His timing and patience are unmatched. This is the greatest receiver I’ve ever seen.”

Irvin acknowledged he waited to see other performances before making such a statement. He remains convinced that Toney stands out among his peers, reflecting an ability Irvin has not observed at the collegiate or professional level. Irvin believes Toney will only improve as he progresses in his college football career.

He led in receiving yards in 1991 and secured three Super Bowl victories with the 1990s Dallas Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith has also initiated his season strongly, with eight receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns against Ball State.
