LeBron James Joins Philadelphia 76ers for 24th NBA Season

LeBron James enters his 24th NBA season with a new challenge. He signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, marking his fourth team in the league. This move partners him with new teammates Jaylen Brown, former MVP Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey, positioning the team as a strong contender in the Eastern Conference.

No player in NBA history has won championships with four different teams. James is among only four players, including John Salley, Robert Horry, and Danny Green, who have secured titles with three teams. Before potentially bringing Philadelphia its first championship since 1983, James’s legacy with the Los Angeles Lakers draws attention.

“He definitely won a championship there and was a big game player, so he’s in the building,” said Shaquille O’Neal about LeBron’s impact on the Lakers during an interview with Fox News Digital.

LeBron’s contribution secured the Lakers a 2020 NBA title during the Disney “bubble” season. Despite this, O’Neal hesitates to place James on the Lakers’ “top floor,” a status reserved for legends like Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

“Top floor belongs to Magic, Kobe, and Kareem,” O’Neal stated. “LeBron will probably always be under those guys, but that doesn’t take away from what he’s done in the game.”

While discussing James, O’Neal recalled his enjoyment of Lucky Charms cereal, connecting it to nostalgic moments from his childhood. As part of General Mills’ new contest, he offers fans a chance to win prizes, including a meeting with him.

“I eat cereal because it brings out the kid in me,” O’Neal shared. “Teaming up with General Mills was a perfect fit because I’ve been eating these cereals forever.”

The big question in James’s latest career chapter is how he will share the ball with his new teammates. His love for ball control could challenge the dynamics with Maxey, Brown, and Embiid. As O’Neal observed, “With LeBron holding the ball and Embiid wanting it in the post, them getting only two or three seconds with the shot clock is a different game.”
