The Kansas City Chiefs experienced their first defeat of the 2026 NFL season on Sunday. They were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champions, in a primetime Week 7 game at Lumen Field.
During the 20-3 loss, the Chiefs offense, led by Patrick Mahomes, managed only a field goal. This was a stark contrast to their successful performance in their previous five victories this season. Mahomes recorded a season-low of 165 passing yards alongside an interception.
Kenneth Walker III, the Chiefs’ running back, who has been highly effective in his first year, achieved only 36 rushing yards in this game.
Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, provided a straightforward evaluation of the team’s performance during a discussion with reporters on Thursday. “We got our [expletive] kicked as a coaching staff, as a team, and as a unit, but we’re onto the Denver Broncos,” he stated, according to team insider Charles Goldman.
The Chiefs will aim to regain their form against the Denver Broncos in their Week 8 game this Sunday. In their opening game of the season against the Broncos, Mahomes passed for 182 yards with two touchdowns, while Walker rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown.
The upcoming rematch is scheduled to begin at 4:25 p.m. ET.
