Jon Rahm Faces Uncertainty in Golfing Future Amid LIV Golf’s Financial Struggles

With the future of LIV Golf up in the air, questions about where its players will compete in the coming year are widespread. Jon Rahm, despite his dominance in the circuit, also finds himself uncertain about his plans for 2027. Since joining LIV Golf ahead of the 2024 season, Rahm has consistently claimed the individual title. Yet, as he prepares for upcoming DP World Tour events, clarity on LIV Golf’s prospects remains elusive.

As of the season’s conclusion in August in Indianapolis, the golfer shared he has “no updates” about LIV Golf and its possible direction with the attendees of this week’s Irish Open. His uncertainty reflects the cessation of funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund at the end of the 2026 season, further complicating matters for the tour.

LIV Golf’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, has announced a new investor’s involvement aimed at launching “LIV 2.0.” However, whispers of potential bankruptcy and funding challenges continue to cast doubt on the future. Acknowledging these uncertainties, Rahm seemed hesitant to comment, responding to inquiries with “time will tell.”

Although Rahm assured his commitment to his existing contract with LIV 1.0, further questioning about his desire to return to the PGA Tour did not elicit a definitive response. “We’ll see what happens,” was his simple reply when pushed on the topic.

Additionally, it is reported Rahm’s contract with LIV Golf is worth over nine figures. With ongoing discussions about a potential bankruptcy of the tour, whether he will receive full compensation remains in question. Patience about financial settlements seems to be the current stance for Rahm and his fellow players.
