JD Vance Calls for Action Against Fraud to Protect Taxpayer Funds

Vice President JD Vance is demanding action against widespread fraud. He emphasizes its importance in protecting taxpayer money and ensuring that programs like Social Security serve their real beneficiaries.

Vance plans to host members of Congress at the White House on Wednesday morning for a meeting of a fraud task force. The gathering aims to discuss potential legislative measures to address fraud. About 20 Congress members from both the House and Senate are expected to attend. Vance will outline strategies for tackling fraud in different states and districts.

Previously, Vance organized meetings at the White House involving attorneys general and fellow administration members as part of a task force he leads. He accused the Biden administration of weakening long-standing protections against fraud.

“Our task force is using every tool to end fraud once and for all. Congress has a vital role in cracking down on fraudsters and protecting federal programs from abuse,” stated a White House official to Fox News Digital. “President Trump, Vice President Vance, and partners will persist until every fraudster faces justice.”

The Justice Department recently announced expanding its Northeast Health Care Fraud Strike Force to Philadelphia. This expansion aims to combat alleged Medicare and Medicaid fraud, particularly involving home healthcare services, in Pennsylvania and several other states.

Federal and state authorities charged 19 individuals accused of engaging in fraudulent schemes totaling over $4 million in claims submitted to Medicare and Medicaid. On Sunday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced a plea agreement with the final defendant in a 21-defendant case connected to over $1.7 million in claims.

“The vice president’s task force continues to stop taxpayer funds from reaching fraudsters and saves money for the American people,” a spokesperson for Vance conveyed to Fox News Digital.

The task force has suspended payments to multiple healthcare providers suspected of fraud nationwide. By May, Vance and Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) withheld more than $1.4 billion in federal funding for home health and hospice providers across the country.

In June, the Trump administration unveiled new figures revealing a 7,100% increase in Medicare claims for skin substitutes over six years, escalating from $200 million to $14.4 billion from 2019 to 2025. CMS identified 4,200 suspicious claims for skin substitutes, totaling $224 million in charges by May.

Dr. Oz remarked at a Milwaukee news conference, “That’s a significant amount of money, and it can destabilize hospital systems, physician groups, and other entities.”

President Donald Trump established the task force through an executive order in May, appointing Vance to the team. Various agencies and departments participate in efforts to curb widespread fraud.

On Truth Social, Trump praised the efforts, posting, “Vice President JD Vance and Republicans are effectively targeting fraud in various states. Billions have been identified, and we’ve only just begun.”
