Hollywood Directors Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

2 weeks ago 0

Hollywood directors and studios have reached a four-year tentative contract agreement. This development involves the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The agreement emerged just four weeks after negotiations began.

Christopher Nolan, the new DGA President since September, led these pivotal talks. The contract aligns with recent four-year deals approved by writers’ and actors’ unions. Such agreements extend the typical industry contract length of three years. This move seems aimed at ensuring labor stability amid ongoing industry challenges.

The new agreement still requires approval from the guild’s national board. The DGA has stated that specific terms will only be disclosed after this stage. Following board approval, guild members must ratify the deal. Historically, tentative agreements see approval at both these stages.

The existing directors’ contract was due to expire on June 30. The AMPTP expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as a “fair deal that helps advance a stable and successful entertainment industry.”
