On November 3, 2022, Hayden Panettiere attended the amfAR Gala Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California. Sadly, her representative has confirmed her passing. Panettiere, best known for her roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” was 36 years old.
Her father issued a statement through her representative expressing deep sadness. He described his daughter as “an incredible light and a force of nature,” bringing “immeasurable love and joy” to those around her and her audience on screen. He requested privacy as the family mourns this significant loss.
Panettiere’s acting career began in infancy, appearing in commercials as an 11-month-old. She became a notable actress in soap operas, TV series, and films like “Remember the Titans,” “Normal,” and “Scream.” Her role as Juliette Barnes, a country music star in “Nashville,” resonated strongly with her own life experiences. “I stopped being able to tell where the character started and where, you know, I ended,” she revealed in an interview with NPR’s All Things Considered in May. This role brought her two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 and 2014.
This year, Panettiere penned her memoir, “This is me: A reckoning,” sharing her desire for a “normal childhood” amidst her career. She opened up about struggles with addiction and depression affecting her relationships with her daughter and her partner, Wladimir Klitschko, a former Ukrainian boxing champion. Through her memoir, she aimed to share her traumas and challenges to assist others facing similar obstacles, making them feel less isolated.
“I was trying to fit into two different worlds. One was a very adult world, which was the industry, and one was the world of just being a normal kid, and (I) struggled with both in different ways,” she told NPR’s Sacha Pfeiffer. “But I desperately wanted to fit in.”
Panettiere passed away in South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated actress and a compassionate individual.
