Representative Jared Moskowitz discussed a notable primary upset involving Angie Nixon, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which has caused concern within Florida’s Democratic establishment. Following her 12-point victory, Moskowitz shared his successful strategy against a far-left challenger and addressed remarks made by Senator Rick Scott.
Moskowitz responded to Scott’s claim that moderate Democrats are fearful of the party’s progressive faction. Scott suggested that Moskowitz would be influenced by left-wing streamer Hasan Piker if re-elected. Moskowitz, however, rejected these assumptions in an appearance on ‘Fox & Friends’.
“Rick doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Moskowitz stated. “Nobody in my district believes I’m aligned with Hasan Piker.”
Scott’s comments came during a FOX Business segment, where he argued that any Democrat winning the primary would align with Piker. According to Scott, Democrats support the socialist platform out of fear of their progressive peers.
Moskowitz, widely seen as a centrist, has consistently defended his positions, maintaining support for Israel and critiquing hard-left figures like Piker. After defeating a DSA-endorsed opponent, Oliver Larkin, Moskowitz openly mocked Piker on social media. Piker responded by criticizing Moskowitz’s focus on his criticisms of Israel.
While continuing to challenge the DSA’s ideals, Moskowitz urges Democratic leaders to address the economic issues that resonate with many DSA supporters.
Fox News provided additional insights, noting that Moskowitz considers mainstream Democrats must confront the economic populism promoted by DSA.
