In a thrilling game, Caitlin Clark delivered an impressive performance, recording her fourth career triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. This led the Indiana Fever to a 112-98 victory against the Portland Fire on Friday night.

Kelsey Mitchell also played a crucial role for the Fever, matching Clark with 26 points. The victory marks the Fever’s fifth consecutive win, bringing their record to 19-10. They have won nine of their last 11 games, consistently scoring 100 points or more in the last five.

Despite a strong effort from Bridget Carleton, who also achieved 26 points, the Fire faced their fourth straight loss, leaving them with an 11-18 record. The Fever surged ahead in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 18 points at 90-72 as the fourth quarter began. Makayla Timpson’s layup further extended their lead.

Though Portland narrowed the gap, reaching 98-88 with Carleton’s 3-pointer, and later getting closer with a layup at 100-93, they couldn’t close the deal. Clark’s late free throws sealed the win for the Fever, 110-96, just a minute before the game concluded.

Before the game, a rally took place outside the Moda Center in support of Sophie Cunningham’s remarks concerning the exclusion of transgender athletes from women’s and girls’ sports. This mirrored a similar rally before the Fever’s win over the Seattle Storm earlier in the week. Cunningham was booed by the audience when she entered the game, yet responded with a 3-pointer shortly after, contributing 13 points in total.

A notable moment in the game was Megan DiLeo’s 3-pointer, which briefly put the Fire ahead 36-30. However, the Fever responded by capturing a halftime lead of 56-47, with Clark scoring 17 of her points in the first half.

The game attracted a record crowd of 19,959 at the Moda Center, highlighting the excitement surrounding the matchup.
