FDA Issues Class I Recall for Dozens of Salad Products Due to Listeria Risk

13 minutes ago 0

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the highest risk warning to several salad products in a new recall. Made Fresh Salads, a company based in New York, initiated a voluntary recall in September for its ready-to-eat deli-style salads, assorted cream cheese items, and half-size aluminum pans. This decision arose from potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can lead to severe health issues, potentially causing serious illness or even death. Given these risks, the FDA has now classified the recall as Class I. This level is designated when there is a “reasonable probability” that product use or exposure could result in “serious adverse health consequences or death.”

In total, 61 products are involved in this recall. They were distributed through direct delivery to retail stores and distributors across Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and New York City. Consumers are advised to avoid consuming these products and to follow any guidance provided by the FDA and Made Fresh Salads.

This is a developing story. More details will be provided as the situation unfolds.
