Saudi Citizens Targeted in Houthi Rebel Attack

Three individuals from Saudi Arabia lost their lives in an attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The incident also injured many others of various nationalities, according to the kingdom’s civil aviation authority.

This assault marks the deadliest incident in Saudi Arabia since the kingdom initiated a major military offensive in Yemen last weekend. This offensive aims to regain territories that the Houthi rebels, who receive support from Iran, had previously seized.

Thursday’s attack began with a strike on airport facilities, followed by an attack on a Saudia Airlines aircraft. Fortunately, the aircraft was unoccupied at the time. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack. Among those killed was Capt. Hamoud Ali Alkalthami, a pilot for Saudia Airlines.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported injuries ranging from minor to serious. The Houthis warned international airlines regarding the safety risks of operating in Saudi airspace, which they now consider a military zone.

Iran Revises Peace Talks Proposals

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran has updated its proposals for peace talks with the United States. He expressed readiness to finalize discussions through intermediaries.

While Iran and the U.S. have exchanged proposals, Pezeshkian accused the U.S. of undermining diplomatic efforts through repeated attacks. He emphasized Iran’s focus on ending the conflict and ensuring rights under international law. However, he insisted that unilateral U.S. actions would obstruct such efforts.

Pezeshkian thanked Russia for its support in regional affairs, acknowledging their positions at the United Nations.

USS Abraham Lincoln Returns Home

The USS Abraham Lincoln returned to San Diego after a 321-day deployment, during which it spent considerable time in the Middle East in support of U.S. actions against Iran. Family and friends celebrated the sailors’ return. Among the joyous reunions was McKenzie Adkins introducing her 10-week-old son Declan to his father for the first time.

U.S. Embassy Issues Security Alert in Saudi Arabia

The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia has alerted its citizens to exercise caution when traveling through King Khalid International Airport. This follows a series of Houthi attacks at civilian airports. With the risk of escalated military conflict, the embassy has advised travelers to be aware of potential disruptions, including flight cancellations and airspace closures.

The alert comes after several attacks by the Houthi militia, resulting in three deaths at Saudi airports and prompting additional travel restrictions for U.S. government employees near the Yemeni border.

U.S. Stance on Iran Amid Rising Oil Prices

President Trump declared that the U.S. would not engage in military action against Iran before the midterm elections. Despite Iran’s precarious economic and military conditions, Trump highlighted productive discussions without offering details.

The President emphasized the continuation of oil agreements, noting record shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. These developments come amid fluctuating oil prices, with Brent crude dropping to $103 a barrel following Trump’s assurances.
