Elon Musk’s Political Contributions
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, contributed $276 million to Republican super PACs and organizations over the last three months. This action comes as the GOP faces challenges ahead of the midterm elections.
The total contributions from Musk have reached $366 million. A spokesperson for Musk’s America PAC confirmed these figures, initially reported by The New York Times.
Allocation of Funds
From July to September, Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, supporting Republican Senate candidates, and $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund for GOP House candidates.
Additionally, Musk’s America PAC, established during the 2024 election, received over $76 million.
Further Contributions
Musk also allocated $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC to support Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton. He donated $10 million to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Musk’s Political History
Musk ventured into politics during the 2024 elections, investing heavily in Trump’s presidential campaign. He also led a project called the Department of Government Efficiency, known for significant job and funding cuts at the federal level. After a disagreement with Trump, Musk left the White House in May 2025 and stayed politically inactive for several months.
Future Political Involvement
Musk announced last May his intention to reduce political spending. He elaborated in a July interview with The Economist that he had become overly involved in politics.
