Originally, Mason Rook was Waller’s scheduled opponent. However, Rook announced he was not medically cleared to compete. As a result, Shawn Michaels, NXT’s senior vice president of talent development and creative, revealed an open challenge for the championship. While there were initial speculations about big names like A.J. Styles or CM Punk answering the call, it was Prosper who took up the challenge and faced off against Waller.
