Disney World Introduces New Trash Cans, Sparking Nostalgia Among Fans

4 minutes ago 0

Disney World has begun introducing new trash cans across its resort locations, including four theme parks and two water parks, starting this summer.

Despite their utilitarian purpose, the flat-topped trash cans had garnered a unique fan following among visitors, enough to inspire merchandise featuring their design. Guests often found them useful as makeshift tables, especially during events.

In late 2021, Skip Sher and fellow Disney enthusiasts gathered for a day at Epcot in Orlando, Florida. Their meet-up point was a trash can outside a pub in the theme park’s United Kingdom Pavilion, where they agreed to reconvene in the future. This location held sentimental value for the group, demonstrating the unusual affection some have for these park fixtures.

While the introduction of new trash cans marks another change in the evolving landscape of Disney World, it also touches on the nostalgia that long-time visitors feel towards the older designs.
