A Cuban national, alleged by ICE to be in the U.S. illegally, and another individual are facing accusations of burglarizing a South Florida townhome. The residence belonged to Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, who died in a helicopter crash in Kenya.
Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon-Perdomo, 24, were apprehended on August 25 according to court records in Miami-Dade and arrest affidavits reviewed by Fox News Digital. Records also show Garcia is a U.S. citizen.
ICE stated that Pavon-Perdomo was encountered at the Turner Guilford Knight Center after her arrest by Coral Gables police on charges of grand theft and burglary. A detainer was lodged with local authorities on Aug. 25. ICE reported that Pavon-Perdomo’s entry into the U.S., including time and location, is unknown. She remains in the country without legal status.
The accused reportedly stole luxury vehicles, personal documents, jewelry, and artwork. A sculpture, valued at over $500,000, was among the items taken from the estate, appraised at nearly $3 million.
The helicopter crash claimed seven lives, including U.S. citizens and notable individuals from various professions.
An affidavit reveals the home was intact following the couple’s departure on Aug. 12 and remained so post-crash. The burglary occurred between Aug. 20 and Aug. 22.
Investigations using location services traced a stolen MacBook to a residence in northwest Miami-Dade, linking it to the theft. The complaint notes officers discovered both stolen vehicles parked nearby, leading to Garcia’s hiding place in a closet and Pavon-Perdomo in a bedroom during the search.
Recovered items included documents belonging to the victims, a key fob for the Range Rover, and several artworks, including the stolen sculpture.
Garcia faces charges of burglary, grand theft of vehicles, and first-degree grand theft. Pavon-Perdomo’s charges include burglary and two counts of first-degree grand theft. Their arraignment is set for September 28.
An ICE spokesperson emphasized legal consequences for unlawful actions under current administration policies.
Both Garcia’s and Pavon-Perdomo’s attorneys were unavailable for comment.
