Costco Employee Charged with Murder in Motorcycle Collision

A tragic incident involving two Costco employees resulted in the death of a young man in Issaquah, a suburb of Seattle. Tyler Sorensen, age 22, allegedly struck 20-year-old co-worker Jonathon Langdon with his car, leading to Langdon’s death. Reports indicate feelings of anger and jealousy motivated this act.

The charges against Sorensen include second-degree murder for the events that occurred on July 31. According to court documents, Sorensen followed Langdon from a Costco parking lot, later swerving into Langdon’s lane and colliding with his motorcycle. Video footage from security cameras revealed the moments leading to the collision, where Langdon was thrown from his motorcycle into a metal signpost. Sorensen initially fled the scene but returned an hour later with a family member to engage with investigators, as reported by the Issaquah Police Department.

The court affidavit highlighted Sorensen’s behavior post-collision. He did not stop immediately but instead checked his vehicle to ensure it was functional for the drive home. Statements from Sorensen to investigators suggested that his jealousy arose when he observed Langdon hugging a female co-worker whom Sorensen assumed to be his girlfriend. He admitted to text messaging friends about how his “blood is boiling” at the time.
