Conservative Activist Urges AI Safety Measures

6 minutes ago 0

Amy Kremer, a prominent conservative political activist, urges the government to place safety guidelines on artificial intelligence (AI). She is particularly concerned about protecting children and preventing mass job displacement in the U.S. Kremer believes that current regulations fall short, stating, “If something happens with one of these companies, like a child being manipulated by a chatbot leading to tragic outcomes, there is no requirement for these companies to report to the federal government.”

Kremer is the chairwoman of Humans First, a group advocating for governmental checks on AI technology. The organization aims to give ordinary Americans a voice in AI-related discussions. Kremer recently spoke at the Pro-Human Assembly in Washington, D.C., emphasizing the need for public involvement in AI decisions.

“We are a grassroots organization focused on putting guardrails and safety mechanisms in place to protect American people, especially children, jobs, and ensuring public participation in AI discourse,” Kremer stated.

Kremer, a former Tea Party advocate and supporter of Donald Trump, cited the 2025 Florida State University mass shooting as a dire example. According to court documents, the alleged shooter used ChatGPT to plan aspects of the attack. The event has led to legal action and a state investigation into the company behind the chatbot.

She compares the lack of regulation in AI companies to other industries like aviation, where she served as a flight attendant and was required to report every issue. Kremer argues that AI companies should face scrutiny akin to that overseen by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The debate over AI regulation is particularly relevant as the 2026 midterm elections approach. While some Democrats seek to control AI development, the Trump administration aims to maintain U.S. competitiveness with China in this field. Kremer emphasizes her support for American dominance in AI innovation but insists on safety measures to avoid sacrificing public well-being.

“I’m not siding with Democrats or anti-technology,” Kremer said. “I am a mom with common sense, advocating for responsible guardrails.” Kremer points out that AI companies prioritize their technology, not partisan politics. “They are not concerned about political affiliations but rather their technology and business interests,” she added.

In high-level discussions, AI was a key topic between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Trump, highlighting its importance to U.S. policy. A White House official commented, “The Trump administration is focused on ensuring a stable economy where workers have access to high-paying jobs and can adapt to new technologies.”

With regards to child safety, the administration’s National Policy Framework on Artificial Intelligence calls for Congressional action to enhance protections. This includes equipping parents to manage their children’s online exposure and compelling AI platforms to protect against child exploitation and self-harm.
