A Coast Guard helicopter experienced a crash during a training flight in southeast Alaska, resulting in injuries to four crew members. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter went down outside Sitka, Alaska, near Harbor Mountain, as reported by Coast Guard officials in a press release.
The Arctic District command center received the crash report shortly after 10 a.m., with rescue teams from Sitka Fire and Rescue reaching the location by around 11 a.m. The injured crew members were swiftly transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for medical attention.
Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District, expressed relief over the crew’s survival with minor injuries. He highlighted the importance of their recovery and the ongoing investigation into the crash.
Several other aircraft accidents have occurred this month. In Laredo, Texas, a business jet crash on a highway resulted in one fatality. Additionally, a tragic incident involving a skydiving plane in Missouri led to the death of twelve individuals.
Another significant accident was the B-52 crash on June 15 during a test flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California, killing all eight people onboard.
