Choosing the Photo

Upon reaching the site, Alsayed’s focus was not solely on the missile debris. Instead, he captured farmers battling wind-induced flames in their fields. This scene highlighted the impact of regional conflict on Syria’s rural communities.

Photo Creation Process

Alsayed found farmers using water from hoses and tanks to combat fires caused by the missile debris. Rather than isolating the missile in his photograph, he aimed to capture a comprehensive story. He observed the scenario, waited for an opportune moment when the farmers approached the missile, and then took the shot.
