Caitlin Clark Sets New WNBA Record with 600 Assists

Caitlin Clark continues to distinguish herself as a standout in the WNBA, setting records faster than her peers. In a recent 109-75 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, Clark reached her 600th career assist. She achieved this milestone in just 72 games, a new WNBA record.

Though Clark didn’t deliver a standout performance during the Indiana Fever’s decisive win, she contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Her limited minutes were due to a back injury, allowing her only 24 minutes on the court. Despite her constraints, Clark’s efforts helped secure a significant 34-point victory alongside her teammates Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Sophie Cunningham, who were key scorers in the game.

Mitchell led the Fever with 27 points. Boston added 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cunningham’s contribution from the bench included 20 points, hitting six three-pointers. Clark’s historic assist came in the third quarter with a bounce pass to Monique Billings, leading to a simple layup. At that moment, the Fever had a 13-point lead, which they extended further in the final quarter.

Though her minutes remain restricted, Clark looks forward to increasing her game time in the future. In her own words, she said, “I feel good. Had a hard workout day after the Phoenix game. Felt great there, and then obviously, we had practice yesterday. So, feel ready to go, and excited to play 25 minutes, and excited for my spurts to be a little bit longer, so that should be fun.”

Clark announced herself in the league with her rookie season, notching 337 assists. An injury-limited 2025 season saw her add only 115 assists. Currently, she has made 148 assists this season. Clark, who has been an All-Star three times, averages 7.8 assists per game, trailing only behind Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury.
