Army Gynecologist Faces Charges Over Secret Videotaping

5 days ago 0

An Army gynecologist, Dr. Blaine McGraw, pleaded not guilty to charges of secretly videotaping patients during medical exams. He faces accusations of indecent visual recording and other military charges, including conduct unbecoming an officer, willful disobedience, and making false statements. Allegations suggest there are 93 victims, with conduct reported between 2021 and 2026.

Appearing before Judge Colonel Jorge Rivera at Fort Hood’s Lawrence Williams Judicial Center, McGraw responds to nine charges and 273 specifications. These include 12 counts of sexual assault, 79 counts of attempted sexual assault, 66 counts of indecent recording, and 91 counts of assault by battery. These actions reportedly took place mainly at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, affecting many service members and their spouses.

The Army Criminal Investigation Division initiated an inquiry in October after a complaint surfaced. Most complaints relate to improper recordings during exams of female patients. NBC News highlighted allegations from a former patient, who claimed McGraw recorded her exams without consent and has sued him under the anonymous name Jane Doe.

Fort Hood officials acted swiftly by suspending McGraw and launching an investigation upon receiving the complaint. The commander at Darnall Medical Center alerted over 1,400 patients potentially affected by McGraw’s activities. McGraw also practiced at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii between 2019 and 2023, where officials have informed former patients about the charges and encouraged reporting of any similar incidents.
