Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been removed from the team following his second arrest in a year. The announcement came from coach Kalen DeBoer on Tuesday. Kirkpatrick was arrested on charges related to harassing and doxxing a University of Alabama police officer who had arrested him previously in 2025.
According to police documents, Kirkpatrick is accused of sending offensive messages to the officer and posting a photo of the officer and his family on Facebook. The caption allegedly read, “Dis him?”
Coach Kalen DeBoer stated, “After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program. He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.”
Kirkpatrick had been suspended before Alabama’s win over Texas A&M. He had played in all seven games of the season, accumulating five tackles. Over the course of 28 games in three seasons, Kirkpatrick recorded 17 tackles and forced two fumbles.
Previously, Kirkpatrick was arrested in Tuscaloosa on three counts of reckless endangerment, attempting to elude police, and speeding. This led to his suspension for the last seven games of that season. He later rejoined the team in the spring.
In addition, Kirkpatrick is facing a separate misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an accident, stemming from an incident in June.
