U.S. Military Conducts Strike on Suspected Drug Smuggling Boat

3 weeks ago 0

President Donald Trump attended a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth observing. During this time, the U.S. military reported executing another strike in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

The target was a boat alleged to be involved in drug smuggling, resulting in the deaths of three men. This was the fourth such attack in a week, increasing the death total to 205. The U.S. Southern Command stated that the vessel was participating in narco-trafficking operations and managed by a terrorist group, though no evidence was provided.

This strike is part of a continued campaign against suspected drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific. A video shared by the military on social media depicts a small vessel in the ocean being struck and engulfed in flames. These actions are part of a series of U.S. strikes initiated in early September. Additional strikes were reported earlier this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The Trump administration has asserted that the U.S. is in an armed conflict with Latin American drug cartels, blaming them for the influx of drugs into American communities. According to U.S. Southern Command, the recent strike was directed by Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the leading U.S. commander in Latin America.
